The Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities has a few exciting opportunities for UMD graduate students interested in the developing field of digital humanities, including travel grants and semester-long fellowships. Details available in the PDF links below. Information will also be provided at this coming week’s “Coffehouse Conversations,” held on Tuesday, November 8th, and Wednesday, November 9th, at 4pm.

  1. Is there a way to create an online presence for the Coffeehouse Conversation? An IM window where MITH expatriates can participate?

  2. Jason says:

Good question – I have absolutely no idea. Hopefully some MITH folk will pass by and take a gander at an answer…

  3. Matt K. says:

    You rang? 😉

This is something we plan to do but it’s not quite implemented yet. We have a computer in the Coffeehouse space, and a Web camera, and a key part of MITH MOO (which we’re building) will be a virtual conferencing facility that will allow anyone to login remotely, check out who’s in the real Coffeehouse (via the feed in the virtual MOO Coffeehouse) and converse with them. We intend to do this for the Digital Dialogues series too, via the virtual conference room in MITH MOO. Just as soon as we can get it all up and running.

Stay tuned too for the new MITH Web site which (IMHO) looks just amazing.
