I really like Buckley's version of "Hallalujah" a lot, but I have to admit that it still sounds strange to me to hear anyone other than Leonard Cohen singing it. I really need to get DSL so I can listen to cool radio stations like the one you mention. Have you ever listened to WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, IL (I think they wtill broadcast online)? In the evenings, they used to have some fantastic alt-country shows. Good stuff. I miss it.

I probably don't make as much use of internet radio at home as I should. After all, I have good speakers, and a cable connection... For no particular reason, I tend to turn on local stations there (which I don't really care about, other than the fabu 88.5 WAMU NPR station).

it's odd to me that, while the lyrics are kind of ambiguous, the song gets used for all sorts of things. i remember that mtv or vh1 used buckley's version of it for a video montage during the evening hours of sept. 11. that didn't make much sense, but it sure choked me up.

add rufus wainwright's cover from shrek to the list. i think everyone's done this song at some point, but buckley's is spine-tingling.

I did a quick sweep for the lyrics and it seems like Jeff Buckley's lyrics to hallaluja are a bit different from the lyrics I've found for Leonard Cohens original. Did he take some license and rewrite some of it? Or do I need to do some more searching? There are entire verses in the Buckley version that I can't find on pages dedicated to the cohen original.
