Radiohead

Forthcoming Radiohead album hits the net early. Titled "Hail to the Thief" (no cultural critic needed to decipher that one), I give it a 8/10 on the rhody-rad-o-meter. But that's a first impression, as I sit sipping a cup of tea, surfing my rounds, and listening. No holding me to it.

If you need a news link, it follows. Or check the press release, which lists the song titles.

Now that you've had a chance to listen to it, what do you think?

I'm keeping the 8/10 rad-o-meter rating. I dig it. To me (and mind you, I've still only listened to it 3-4 times, mostly while working), it brings back a lot of the sound I liked in OK Computer and The Bends. While I liked Kid A, and kinda liked Insomniac, I'm glad that they are fishing their roots. Unlike their most recent two albums, I think I'll listen to "Hail to the Thief" over and over. The track 2+2=5 is rad, starting off slow and mindful before dipping into a solid (more rock a-la Bends) groove.

OK Computer still tops my list, however.

Once Matt gets a chance to listen to it, you should ask him, as I trust his ear better than my own.
